Principal’s Message

Greetings Wilder Wolverines!

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! It is my honor to serve as your new Principal!  Named after the first African American Governor of Virginia, L. Douglas Wilder Middle School is equipped with caring and talented educators who are invested in the growth and success of our students. I encourage you to take advantage of our extensive school program and become a member of our PTSA. We have so much to offer our families in our quest to inspire excellence in each and every student!

Our Campus...Since 1997, Wilder has shined as an indoor comprehensive school setting surrounded by a beautiful residential community and the Capital Park soccer fields. We have fantastic custodial and maintenance staff members who pride themselves on keeping our grounds safe and attractive.

Our Team…Our 67 instructors are committed to building relationships and learning communities that value social-emotional learning and differentiation. Our teachers successfully collaborate daily with over 60 staff members, to include counselors, instructional assistants, administrative professionals, coaches, specialists, and school leaders.  We are in the process of updating our staffing page with photos and bios!

Our Partnerships…We are supported by the HCPS Department of Family and Community Engagement, the Henrico Education Foundation Community Learning Center, and a host of businesses, churches, and community organizations.

Our Mission…Our team is committed to serving all scholars by providing them with a safe educational experience focused on deeper learning, celebrating diversity, and fostering leadership.

Our Theme…Our 2021-2022 school year theme is A Whole New World!  We wish to provide an amazing instructional program that is rich with expeditionary learning, student self-discovery, global citizenship, and content area literacy.  Please refer to my weekly email communication and social media posts to explore, learn, and grow with us!

Families, it is my goal to earn your trust as the leader of this incredible school community. Your feedback is important to me. Please be in touch with any questions, concerns, or suggestions for how we can best serve your family.
